General Description:

VanAire, a military friendly employer, in Gladstone, Michigan is accepting applications for the position of full-time, first shift Saw Operator.

Qualifications (Minimum Requirements):

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must have ability to interpret engineering drawings & use all required shop measuring devices such as calipers, tape measure, etc.
  • Must have ability to communicate professionally with co-workers and shift lead.
  • Must be able to pass physical including lifting 50 lbs.

Duties:

  • Tends cutoff saws.
  • Measures component dimensions, using rule, template, or other measuring instruments to determine accuracy of machine operation.
  • Removes burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale from work piece. Performs minor machine maintenance. Stacks, marks, and transport finished work pieces to next operation.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, engineering specifications, and shop orders to determine machine setup, production methods, and sequence of operation.
  • Selects and positions fixtures onto machine, using rule, square, shims, templates, hand tools, and built-in gauges.
  • Locates and marks cutting lines and reference points on work piece, using instruments, such as rule and compass, or by tracing from templates.
  • Positions work piece against stops and guides.
  • Loads and unloads materials off truck to designated area. Receives material according to procedure.
  • Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
  • Opens containers, using steel cutters, crowbar, claw hammer, or other hand tools.
  • Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand or crane hoist.
  • Conveys materials to or from storage or work sites to designated area, using, electric hoist/crane, powered industrial truck, hand truck, or other device.
  • Secures lifting attachments to materials and conveys load to destination, using hand-operated crane or hoist, or signals crane or hoisting operators to move load to destination.
  • Cleans work area, machines, and equipment, using broom, rags, and cleaning compounds.
  • Cycle counting usage through inventory software.
  • Conforms to VanAire’s policies and procedures through compliance of the Quality Management Systems Manual.
  • Adhere to VanAire’s Safety Policy.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Compensation and benefits:

  • An hourly wage will be determined pending education and experience. Wage range: $13 – 15/hour
  • Company paid medical insurance upon completion of 90 day Probationary period
  • Simple IRA match up to 3% gross upon completion of 90 day Probationary period
