Mechanical Engineering Technologist/Technician

VanAire seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineering Technologist/Technician to join their Wastewater Solutions team in Gladstone, Michigan.

This position will oversee, engineer, design, and coordinate assigned wastewater projects from purchase order to installation while working closely with Technical Sales & Service and the Production Lead to exceed customer’s expectations.

WHAT YOU WILL DO.

  • Use SolidWorks and other CAD software to design environmental solution products in accordance with proposal, customer’s purchase orders, engineering specifications, input from Sales group and industry data.
  • Create project submittal packages and quotes as needed.
  • Arrange for timely procurement of purchased items used in projects assigned.
  • Utilize company ERP system to enter component and assembly information.
  • Collaborate, create and oversee final creation of Technical Manuals for projects assigned.
  • Track progress/timelines for projects to ensure on-time delivery; assist shipping dept. to arrange delivery.
  • Oversee assigned projects to ensure requirements for design, quality and delivery are met and within budget.
  • Work closely w/purchasing, scheduling and staff to keep projects moving through production and minimize downtime.
  • Provide customer service and support in a timely, professional manner to answer questions and resolve issues.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR.

  • Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • 2 years’ experience using parametric CAD modeling systems designing products preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing, fabrication, and project leadership required.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical engineering calculations required.
  • Experience working with wastewater a bonus.
  • Basic computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook required.
  • Collaborative nature that works well with others.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds required.
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally to assist with installations, meet customers/suppliers, acquire site information, and for training.
